Угледајте се дакле на Бога, као љубазна дјеца,

Therefore be followers of God as dear children.

И живите у љубави, као што је и Христос љубио нас, и предаде себе за нас у прилог и жртву Богу на слатки мирис.

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

А курварство и свака нечистота и лакомство да се и не спомиње међу вама, као што се пристоји светима;

But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

Тако и срамотне и луде ријечи, или шале, што се не пристоји; него још захваљивање.

neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

Јер ово да знате да ниједан курвар, или нечист, или тврдица (који је идолопоклоник), неће имати дијела у царству Христа и Бога.

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Нико да вас не вара празнијем ријечима; јер овијех ради иде гњев Божиј на синове непокорности.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Не бивајте дакле заједничари њихови.

Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Јер бијасте негда тама, а сад сте видјело у Господу: као дјеца видјела живите;

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Јер је род духовни у свакој доброти и правди и истини.

(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),

Истражујте што је Богу угодно.

proving what is acceptable to the Lord.

И не пристајте на безродна дјела таме, него још карајте.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Јер је срамно и говорити шта они тајно чине.

For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

А све за што се кара, видјело објављује; јер све што се објављује, видјело је;

But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

Зато говори: устани ти који спаваш и васкрсни из мртвијех, и обасјаће те Христос.

Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light."

Гледајте дакле да уредно живите не као немудри, него као мудри;

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,

Пазите на вријеме, јер су дани зли,

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Тога ради не будите неразумни, него познајте што је воља Божија.

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

И не опијајте се вином, у коме је курварство, него се још испуњавајте духом,

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Захваљујући за свашто у име Господа нашега Исуса Христа Богу и оцу;

giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Слушајући се међу собом у страху Божијему.

submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Жене! слушајте своје мужеве као Господа.

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

Јер је муж глава жени као што је и Христос глава цркви, и он је спаситељ тијела.

For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

Но као што црква слуша Христа тако и жене своје мужеве у свему.

Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Мужеви! љубите своје жене као што и Христос љуби цркву, и себе предаде за њу,

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it,

Да је освети очистивши је купањем воденијем у ријечи;

that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Да је метне преда се славну цркву, која нема мане ни мрштине, или такога чега, него да буде света и без мане.

that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Тако су дужни мужеви љубити своје жене као своја тјелеса; јер који љуби своју жену, себе самога љуби.

So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

Јер нико не омрзну кад на своје тијело, него га храни и грије, као и Господ цркву.

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

Јер смо уди тијела његова, од меса његова, и од костију његовијех.

For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Тога ради оставиће човјек оца својега и матер, и прилијепиће се к жени својој, и биће двоје једно тијело.

"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

Тајна је ово велика; а ја говорим за Христа и за цркву.

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Али и ви сваки да љуби онако своју жену као и себе самога; а жена да се боји својега мужа.

Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
