Свето Јеванђеље по Јовану

Бијаше пак један болесник, Лазар из Витаније из села Марије и Марте сестре њезине.

Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

(А Марија, које брат Лазар боловаше, бјеше она што помаза Господа миром и отр ноге његове својом косом.)

It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

Онда послаше сестре к њему говорећи: Господе! гле, онај који ти је мио болестан је.

Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick."

А кад чу Исус, рече: ова болест није на смрт, него на славу Божију, да се прослави син Божиј с ње.

When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it."

А Исус љубљаше Марту и сестру њезину и Лазара.

Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was.

А потом рече ученицима: хајдемо опет у Јудеју.

Then after this He said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."

Ученици му рекоше: Рави! сад Јудејци шћадијаху да те убију камењем, па опет хоћеш да идеш онамо?

The disciples said to Him, "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?"

Исус одговори: није ли дванаест сахата у дану? ко дању иде не спотиче се, јер види видјело овога свијета;

Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.

А ко иде ноћу спотиче се, јер нема видјела у њему.

"But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

Ово каза, и потом им рече: Лазар, наш пријатељ, заспа; него идем да га пробудим.

These things He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up."

Онда му рекоше ученици његови: Господе! ако је заспао, устаће.

Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps he will get well."

А Исус им рече за смрт његову а они мишљаху да говори за спавање сна.

However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.

Тада им Исус каза управо: Лазар умрије.

Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.

И мило ми је вас ради што нијесам био онамо да вјерујете; него хајдемо к њему.

"And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe. Nevertheless let us go to him."

Онда Тома, који се зваше Близанац, рече ученицима: хајдемо и ми да помремо с њим.

Then Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."

А кад дође Исус, нађе га а он већ четири дана у гробу.

So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.

(А Витанија бјеше близу Јерусалима око петнаест потркалишта.)

Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away.

И многи од Јудејаца бијаху дошли к Марти и Марији да их тјеше за братом њиховијем.

And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

Кад Марта дакле чу да Исус иде, изађе преда њ, а Марија сјеђаше дома.

Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house.

Онда рече Марта Исусу: Господе! да си ти био овдје не би мој брат умро.

Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.

А и сад знам да што заиштеш у Бога даће ти Бог.

"But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."

Исус јој рече: брат ће твој устати.

Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."

Марта му рече: знам да ће устати о васкрсенију, у пошљедњи дан.

Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day."

А Исус јој рече: ја сам васкрсеније и живот; који вјерује мене ако и умре живљеће.

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

И ниједан који живи и вјерује мене неће умријети вавијек. Вјерујеш ли ово?

"And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

Рече му: да, Господе! ја вјеровах да си ти Христос син Божиј који је требало да дође на свијет.

She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."

И ово рекавши отиде те зовну тајно Марију сестру своју говорећи: учитељ је дошао, и зове те.

And when she had said these things, she went her way and secretly called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher has come and is calling for you."

А она кад чу, уста брзо и отиде к њему.

As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came to Him.

Јер Исус још не бјеше дошао у село, него бијаше на оном мјесту гдје га срете Марта.

Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met Him.

А Јудејци онда који бијаху с њом у кући и тјешаху је, кад видјеше Марију да брзо уста и изиђе, пођоше за њом говорећи да иде на гроб да плаче онамо.

Then the Jews who were with her in the house, and comforting her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, saying, "She is going to the tomb to weep there."

А Марија како дође гдје бјеше Исус, и видје га, паде на ноге његове говорећи му: Господе! да си ти био овдје, не би умро мој брат.

Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died."

Онда Исус кад је видје гдје плаче, и гдје плачу Јудејци који дођоше с њом, згрози се у духу, и сам постаде жалостан.

Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

И рече: гдје сте га метнули? Рекоше му: Господе! хајде да видиш.

And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see."

Ударише сузе Исусу.

Jesus wept.

Онда Јудејци говораху: гледај како га љубљаше,

Then the Jews said, "See how He loved him!"

А неки од њих рекоше: не могаше ли овај који отвори очи слијепцу учинити да и овај не умре?

And some of them said, "Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?"

А Исус опет се згрози у себи, и дође на гроб; а бијаше пећина, и камен лежаше на њој.

Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

Исус рече: узмите камен. Рече му Марта, сестра онога што је умро: Господе! већ смрди; јер су четири дана како је умро.

Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days."

Исус јој рече: не рекох ли ти да ако вјерујеш видјећеш славу Божију?

Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

Узеше дакле камен гдје лежаше мртвац; а Исус подиже очи горе, и рече: оче! хвала ти што си ме услишио.

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

А ја знадох да ме свагда слушаш; него рекох народа ради који овдје стоји, да вјерују да си ме ти послао.

"And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."

И ово рекавши зовну иза гласа: Лазаре! изиђи напоље.

Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!"

И изиђе мртвац обавит платном по рукама и по ногама, и лице његово убрусом повезано. Исус им рече: раздријешите га и пустите нек иде.

And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go."

Онда многи од Јудејаца који бијаху дошли к Марији и видјеше шта учини Исус, вјероваше га.

Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.

А неки од њих отидоше к фарисејима и казаше им шта учини Исус.

But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did.

Онда главари свештенички и фарисеји сабраше скупштину, и говораху: шта ћемо чинити? Човјек овај чини многа чудеса.

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs.

Ако га оставимо тако, сви ће га вјеровати; па ће доћи Римљани и узети нам земљу и народ.

"If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation."

А један од њих, по имену Кајафа, који оне године бјеше поглавар свештенички, рече им: ви не знате ништа;

And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,

И не мислите да је нама боље да један човјек умре за народ, неголи да народ сав пропадне.

"nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish."

А ово не рече сам од себе, него, будући поглавар свештенички оне године, прорече да Исусу ваља умријети за народ;

Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

И не само за народ, него да и расијану дјецу Божију скупи уједно.

and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

Од тога дакле дана договорише се да га убију.

Then from that day on they plotted to put Him to death.

А Исус више не хођаше јавно по Јудејцима, него оданде отиде у крај близу пустиње у град по имену Јефрем, и ондје хођаше с ученицима својима.

Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.

А бјеше близу пасха Јеврејска, и многи из онога краја дођоше у Јерусалим прије пасхе да се очисте.

And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

Тада тражаху Исуса, и стојећи у цркви говораху међу собом: шта мислите ви зашто не долази на празник?

Then they sought Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, "What do you think--that He will not come to the feast?"

А главари свештенички и фарисеји издаше заповијест ако га ко опази гдје је, да јави да га ухвате.

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report it, that they might seize Him.
