The rich and the poor have this in common, the LORD is the maker of them all.

Паметан човјек види зло и склони се, а луди иду даље и плаћају.

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.

Смјерности и страху Господњем плата је богатство и слава и живот.

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life.

Трње и замке су на путу опакога; ко чува душу своју, биће далеко од тога.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he who guards his soul will be far from them.

Учи дијете према путу којим ће ићи, па неће отступити од њега ни кад остари.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Богат господари над сиромасима, и ко узима у зајам бива слуга оному који даје.

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Ко сије безакоње жеће муку, и прута гњева његова нестаће.

He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow, and the rod of his anger will fail.

He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor.

Отјерај потсмјевача, и отићи ће распра и престаће свађа и срамота.

Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; yes, strife and reproach will cease.

Ко љуби чисто срце, и чије су усне љубазне, њему је цар пријатељ.

He who loves purity of heart and has grace on his lips, the king will be his friend.

Очи Господње чувају знање, а послове безаконикове обара.

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, but He overthrows the words of the faithless.

Љенивац говори: лав је напољу; насред улице погинуо бих.

The slothful man says, "There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!"

Уста су туђих жена јама дубока; на кога се гњеви Господ, онамо ће пасти.

The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit; he who is abhorred of the LORD will fall there.

Безумље је привезано дјетету на срце; прут којим се кара уклониће га од њега.

Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Ко чини криво сиромаху да умножи своје, и ко даје богатоме, зацијело ће осиромашити.

He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.

Пригни ухо своје и слушај ријечи мудријех људи, и срце своје привиј к науци мојој.

Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge;

Јер ће ти бити милина ако их сложиш у срце своје, ако све буду поређане на уснама твојим.

for it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; let them all be fixed upon your lips,

Да би ти уздање било у Господа, казујем ти ово данас, а ти тако чини.

So that your trust may be in the LORD; I have instructed you today, even you.

Нијесам ли ти написао знамените ствари за савјете и знање,

Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge,

Да бих ти показао тврђу истинитијех ријечи да би могао истинитијем ријечима одговарати онима који пошљу к теби?

That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth, that you may answer words of truth to those who send to you?

Не отимај сиромаху зато што је сиромах, и не затири невољнога на вратима.

Do not rob the poor because he is poor, nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;

Јер ће Господ бранити њихову ствар, и отеће душу онима који њима отимају.

for the LORD will plead their cause, and plunder the soul of those who plunder them.

Не дружи се с човјеком гњевљивијем и не иди са жестоким,

Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man do not go,

Да се не би навикао на путове његове и метнуо замке на душу своју.

lest you learn his ways and set a snare for your soul.

Не буди од онијех који руку дају, који се јамче за дугове.

Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, one of those who is surety for debts;

Ако немаш чим платити, зашто да се однесе постеља испод тебе?

If you have nothing with which to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?

Не помичи старе међе, коју су поставили оци твоји.

Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set.

Јеси ли видио човјека устаоца на послу? Таки ће пред царевима стајати, а неће стајати пред простацима.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men.
