Књига о Јову

Тада одговори Господ Јову из вихора и рече:

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

Ко је то што замрачује савјет ријечима неразумно?

"Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

Опаши се сада као човјек; ја ћу те питати, а ти ми казуј.

Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.

Гдје си ти био кад ја оснивах земљу? кажи, ако си разуман.

"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.

Ко јој је одредио мјере? знаш ли? или ко је растегао уже преко ње?

Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?

На чем су подножја њезина углављена? или ко јој је метнуо камен угаони?

To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,

Кад пјеваху заједно звијезде јутарње и сви синови Божји кликоваху.

when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Или ко је затворио море вратима кад као из утробе изиде?

"Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth and issued from the womb;

Кад га одјех облаком и пових тамом;

when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band;

Кад поставих за њ уредбу своју и метнух му пријеворнице и врата;

when I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors;

И рекох: довде ћеш долазити, а даље нећеш, и ту ће се устављати поносити валови твоји.

when I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!'

Јеси ли свога вијека заповједио јутру, показао зори мјесто њезино,

"Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place,

Да се ухвати земљи за крајеве, и да се растјерају с ње безбожници,

that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?

Да се она промијени као блато печатно, а они да стоје као хаљина,

It takes on form like clay under a seal, and stands out like a garment.

Да се одузме безбожницима свјетлост њихова и рука подигнута да се сломи?

From the wicked their light is withheld, and the upraised arm is broken.

Јеси ли долазио до дубина морских? и по дну пропасти јеси ли ходио?

"Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?

Јесу ли ти се отворила врата смртна, и врата сјена смртнога јеси ли видио?

Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?

Јеси ли сагледао ширину земаљску? кажи, ако знаш све то.

Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this.

Који је пут к стану свјетлости? и гдје је мјесто тами,

"Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place,

Да би је узео и одвео до међе њезине, и знао стазе к дому њезину?

that you may take it to its territory, that you may know the paths to its home?

Знаш ти; јер си се онда родио, и број је дана твојих велик.

Do you know it, because you were born then, or because the number of your days is great?

Јеси ли улазио у ризнице шњежне? или ризнице градне јеси ли видио,

"Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail,

Које чувам за вријеме невоље, за дан боја и рата?

Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war?

Којим се путем дијели свјетлост и устока се разилази по земљи?

By what way is light diffused, or the east wind scattered over the earth?

Ко је раздијелио јазове поводњу и пут свјетлици громовној?

"Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, or a path for the thunderbolt,

Да би ишао дажд на земљу гдје нема никога, и на пустињу гдје нема човјека,

to cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, A wilderness in which there is no man;

Да напоји пуста и неродна мјеста, и учини да расте трава зелена.

To satisfy the desolate waste, and cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?

Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew?

Из чије је утробе изашао лед, и ко је родио слану небеску,

From whose womb comes the ice? and the frost of heaven, who gives it birth?

Да се воде скривају и постају као камен и крајеви пропасти срастају?

The waters harden like stone, and the surface of the deep is frozen.

Можеш ли свезати милине влашићима? или свезу штапима раздријешити?

"Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion?

Можеш ли извести јужне звијезде на вријеме? Или кола са звијездама њиховијем хоћеш ли водити?

Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?

Знаш ли ред небески? можеш ли ти уређивати владу његову на земљи?

Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? can you set their dominion over the earth?

Можеш ли дигнути глас свој до облака да би те мноштво воде покрило?

"Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that an abundance of water may cover you?

Можеш ли пустити муње да иду, и да ти реку: ево нас?

Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, and say to you, 'Here we are!'?

Ко је метнуо човјеку у срце мудрост? или ко је дао души разум?

Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?

Ко ће избројити облаке мудрошћу, и мјехове небеске ко ће излити,

who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven,

Да се расквашен прах згусне и груде се слијепе?

when the dust hardens in clumps, and the clods cling together?
