Књига о Јову

Још говори Елијуј и рече:

Elihu also proceeded and said:

Потрпи ме мало, и показаћу ти, јер још има што бих говорио за Бога.

"Bear with me a little, and I will show you that there are yet words to speak on God's behalf.

Почећу из далека бесједу своју, и показаћу да је Творац мој праведан.

I will fetch my knowledge from afar; I will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

Доиста, неће бити лажне ријечи моје, код тебе је који право мисли.

For truly my words are not false; one who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

Гле, Бог је силан, али никога не одбацује, силан је снагом срчаном.

"Behold, God is mighty, but despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

Не да живјети безбожнику, а невољницима чини правду.

He does not preserve the life of the wicked, but gives justice to the oppressed.

Не одвраћа од праведника очију својих, него још с царевима на пријесто посађује их навијек, те се узвишују.

He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous; but they are on the throne with kings, for He has seated them forever, and they are exalted.

Ако ли су оковани у пута и свезани ужима невољничким,

And if they are bound in fetters, held in the cords of affliction,

Тада им напомиње дјела њихова и безакоња њихова како су силна.

then He tells them their work and their transgressions--that they have acted defiantly.

И отвора му ухо да би се поправили, и говори им да се врате од безакоња.

He also opens their ear to instruction, and commands that they turn from iniquity.

Ако послушају и стану им служити, довршују дане своје у добру и године своје у радости.

If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Ако ли не послушају, гину од мача и умиру с безумља.

But if they do not obey, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

А који су лицемјерна срца, навлаче гњев и не вичу кад их повеже;

"But the hypocrites in heart store up wrath; they do not cry for help when He binds them.

Умире у младости душа њихова и живот њихов међу курвама.

They die in youth, and their life ends among the perverted persons.

Избавља невољника из невоље његове и отвора му ухо у муци.

He delivers the poor in their affliction, and opens their ears in oppression.

Тако би и тебе извео из тјескобе на пространо мјесто, гдје ништа не досађује, и мирни сто твој био би пун претилине.

"Indeed He would have brought you out of dire distress, into a broad place where there is no restraint; and what is set on your table would be full of richness.

Али си заслужио суд безбожнички; и суд и правда снађе те.

But you are filled with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice take hold of you.

Доиста, гњев је на теби; гледај да те не одбаци у карању, те те велики откуп неће избавити.

Because there is wrath, beware lest He take you away with one blow; for a large ransom would not help you avoid it.

Хоће ли гледати на твоје богатство? неће ни на злато ни на каку силу блага твојега.

Will your riches, or all the mighty forces, keep you from distress?

Не уздиши за ноћу у коју народи одлазе на своје мјесто.

Do not desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.

Чувај се да не погледаш на таштину и волиш на њу него невољу.

Take heed, do not turn to iniquity, for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

Гле, Бог је највиши својом силом, ко је учитељ као он?

"Behold, God is exalted by His power; who teaches like Him?

Ко му је одредио пут његов? или ко ће му рећи: чиниш неправо?

Who has assigned Him His way, or who has said, 'You have done wrong'?

Опомињи се да величаш дјела његова, која гледају људи.

"Remember to magnify His work, of which men have sung.

Сви људи виде их, сваки их гледа издалека.

Everyone has seen it; man looks on it from afar.

Гле, Бог је велик, и не можемо га познати, број година његовијех не може се докучити.

"Behold, God is great, and we do not know Him; nor can the number of His years be discovered.

Јер он стеже капље водене, које лију дажд из облака његовијех;

For He draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist,

Кад теку облаци, капљу на мноштво људско.

Which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man.

Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds, the thunder from His canopy?

Како простире над њим свјетлост своју, и дубине морске покрива?

Look, He scatters his light upon it, and covers the depths of the sea.

Тијем суди народима, даје хране изобила.

For by these He judges the peoples; He gives food in abundance.

Рукама заклања свјетлост, и наређује кога да срете,

He covers His hands with lightning, and commands it to strike.

Јављајући према њему добру вољу своју, и према стоци и према роду земаљском.

His thunder declares it, the cattle also, concerning the rising storm.
